San Diego Bicycle Accident Attorney Sends Condolences to California High School Community

Marion Adams, a California high school teacher and track and field coach, died in a tragic bicycle accident on March 6, according to the Sacramento Bee. Adams, 59, was riding home on his bicycle out of the school’s parking lot after a track practice and turned to wave goodbye to a student before running into a metal swing gate. Adams was rushed to the hospital to undergo emergency surgeries, but he died the following day from his injuries. Adams was a beloved figure in the community and had attended high school at Rio Linda, where he was a teacher and a coach. “Marion was the most popular and nicest man on campus; just a great guy,” said Rio Linda High School Athletic Director Mike Morris. “It’s a huge loss, devastating to our community. San Diego Bicycle Accident Attorney Looks at Study from Australia

An academic study conducted by a university in Australia indicates that motorists are more likely to be at fault than cyclists when it comes to accidents involving both. Adelaide University’s Centre for Automotive Research studied the causes of bicycle accidents, and head Researcher Tori Lindsay used police reports and hospital reports from bicycle accidents dating back to 2001. The study determined that approximately 8o percent of the accidents were caused by motorists. “More than 85 percent of the cyclists in the study were identified as traveling straight on a single carriageway with the intention of continuing straight at the time of the crash,” said Lindsay. “Drivers of vehicles, however, were more likely to be turning, with more than 65 percent of all drivers undertaking a turn maneuver into or out of another roadway at the time of the crash.” In other words, it is the drivers running into the cyclists…

San Diego Wrongful Death Attorney Looks at Fatal Bicycle Accident in Utah

The motorist involved in a fatal bicycle accident in Utah will face charges for the wrongful death of cyclist Douglas Crow. Driver Maria Fregoso-Avina is facing negligent homicide charges after she struck Crow with her SUV on train tracks in Provo, Utah on February 15. Crow was knocked down on the tracks and was not able to get up before he was hit by a train. Responders pronounced Crow dead on the scene. According to reports, Fegoso-Avina’s windshield was frosted over and she has little to no visibility as she was driving. She was charged with negligent homicide, improper lookout and driving with an obstructed windshield. “When you are driving you have to be able to have all of the senses available and sight is one of those,” says Provo Police Lt.
