According to the DailyBreeze.com, the California Highway Patrol is asking for help from the public in their search for a suspect who hit a 50-year-old man near Compton in a fatal hit-and-run bicycle accident. The accident occurred on August 23 shortly after 9 p.m. The suspect was driving a black BMW and never even stopped, according to CHP Officer Patrick Kimball. According to reports, the cyclist was crossing the street at the intersection of Redondo Beach Boulevard and Avalon Boulevard. The victim, whose name is being withheld until his family can be reached, was thrown off of his bike and pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators have not been able to tell who had the green light. Regardless of the circumstances of any bicycle accident, there is never an excuse to leave the scene.
