15-Year-Old Boy Killed In Tragic Bicycle Accident

According to the Belmont-Ca.Patch.com, a 15-year-old boy was killed in a tragic bicycle accident on July 22 after being hit by a car.  The boy was identified as Kijana Crossley by the San Mateo County Coroner’s office.

The accident occurred around 5 p.m. on the 100 block of Palmetto Avenue in Pacifica.  Responding police officers attempted CPR on the boy before he was taken to San Francisco General Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Crossley—who is a student at Oceana High School—may have been at fault in the accident according to preliminary reports.  Captain Dave Bertini noted that Crossley was not wearing a helmet and may have swerved in front of the car.

“It was a tragic accident,” Bertini said.

Accidents are unavoidable sometimes.  It is sad to think that such a young person can be killed in an accident that not only may have been avoidable, but if he had been wearing a helmet he might be alive today.
