San Diego Bicycle Accident Attorney Looks at Fatal Trail Collision

An unidentified man was killed in a bicycle accident on the Santa Ann trail on December 28, according to the Orange County Register. Paramedics responded to a distress call about a collision on the trail around 6 p.m. The man was rushed to the Western Medical Center in Orange County where he was pronounced dead. Westminster California Highway Patrol Officers confirmed that a cyclist collided with a pedestrian on the trail but did not specify if it was the cyclist or the pedestrian who died. The accident remains under investigation. Cyclists riding on a bike path should not let their guard down any more than if they are riding along a road. It is important to be prepared and follow all bicycle safety laws. If a path is crowded and being used by other cyclists and pedestrians, riders should slow to a safe speed. Christopher Weigl was a 23-year-old graduate student at Boston University who was killed in a collision involving a commercial truck near campus on December 6. Monuments like this are used to mark the spots where a cyclist has been killed in a collision with a motorist. A young man in San Antonio recently lost his father in a bicycle accident, and he is determined to make sure others do not have to go through the grief and hardship he has endured. James Shepard, 44, died in a bicycle accident just north of downtown San Antonio when he was struck by an SUV. James was riding home from work after dark. He was riding without a helmet, lights or reflectors on his bike. He was not riding in a bike lane.
