Tennessee Cyclist Critically Injured In Accident

A Tennessee cyclist suffered serious injuries after a bicycle accident when a vehicle struck him, according to DNJ.com. Witness Cole Elliot could hear the collision and knew exactly what happened before even looking. The name of the cyclist was not available, and his injuries are “severe.” “I was scared to look back,” said Elliot. “The man on the bicycle wasn’t moving. I ran inside to get my boss. Stay Safe While Cycling At Night

Many cyclists enjoy riding at night. Night riding can be an enjoyable experience, but there is an associated risk that comes with cycling in the dark. Indiana Girl Killed In Cycling Accident

A 15-year-old girl in Indiana died in a tragic bicycle accident on November 6, according to Fox 28 News in South Bend.  Elkhart County Sherriff’s Department identified the girl as Amanda Zimmerman. Amanda was riding on rural Country Road 40 when an SUV struck her.  She was rushed to a South Bend hospital, where she died from her injuries.  She suffered blunt force trauma and reportedly was not wearing a bicycle helmet. The accident remains under investigation, but no citations were issued.  The driver, Gregory Yoder, 39, told police he did not see the cyclist.  Police do not believe alcohol was a factor in the accident. While it is not fair to jump to conclusions before the investigation is complete, cyclists must remember to wear a helmet and be visible in the dark and to follow bicycle safety laws at all times.
