Portland Judge Hit By Car While Cycling

According to KGW News Channel 8 in Portland, a Multnomah County judge was injured in a bicycle accident on the early morning of August 25.  She was reportedly struck by a car on her morning ride, according to police reports. The victim—Judge Kathleen Dailey—was riding on Terwilliger Boulevard when she was struck while making a left turn.  She was taken to a nearby hospital with non life-threatening injuries. The driver of the car was identified as 45-year-old Cynthia Farrell, and she was cited for failure to obey a traffic control device.  It was not determined whether or not Dailey was wearing a helmet. While this appears to be accidental, it likely was preventable.  Had the driver been alert and obeying bicycle safety laws this could have been avoided.
