California Teacher Killed In Tragic Bicycle Accident

A Mt. Whitney high school teacher was killed in a tragic bicycle accident in Visalia, California last month.  41-year-old Scott Nelson was riding on Rocky Hill Drive, east of Exeter, when he collided with a jogger.  It was a freak accident on a road that is popular for both cyclists and joggers.  Officials say Nelson was riding at approximately 35 mph at the time of the collision and was thrown from his bicycle.  He died at the scene from a blunt force trauma injury. When students returned to Mt. Whitney last month, many were still grieving the loss of the beloved teacher.  Nelson was a beloved teacher who will be missed by many. Ohio Teenage Cyclist Injured After Being Struck By Car

According to WKRC CBS News 12 in Cincinnati, a teenager on a bicycle was struck by a car on August 28 and had to be airlifted to the hospital.  According to police reports, the girl was struck by a car at around 8 pm on the Sunday night. Her name was not released, but reports identified the victim in the bicycle accident as a 15-year-old girl.  Authorities did not comment on her condition other than to say she was alert and responsive.  Officials said that the driver did stop and call 911 after the accident, but did not release further details.  No citations have been issued at this time. By all accounts this appears to be a tragic accident—comments on the news page indicate that the driver is a reverend who was very shaken up by this incident.  However, everyone needs to take all measures to prevent these car-bicycle collisions…

Memorial Service Held For Teacher Killed In Bicycle Accident

A memorial service held for a California man killed in a bicycle accident was attended by about 1,000 people in Fresno on August, 27.  Scott Nelson, a 41-year-old high school teacher was killed the week before when he crashed his bicycle into a teenage pedestrian, according to the Visalia times-Delta. Nelson also coached the high school football team where he was a teacher.  Students, as well as friends and family gathered to mourn the loss of the man who was beloved in the community. “He was more than a coach to me,” said Eric Morin, a former Mt.
